Thermal inkjet printers for high-resolution coding
Produce crisp text, barcodes and graphics with compact, low-maintenance thermal inkjet technology.
Designed around the process that must work.
Thermal inkjet suits applications that need excellent definition from a compact printhead. The correct cartridge chemistry, throw distance, surface presentation and line control are essential to achieve repeatable results.
What this deliversHigh-quality variable coding without adding a large machine footprint.
04 / Oxford TraceabilityWhat the solution can include.
- 01High-resolution text, logos and machine-readable codes
- 02Single and stitched multi-head print arrangements
- 03Water-based and solvent-capable cartridge options
- 04Compact integration into conveyors and packaging machines
Where it earns its place.
Labels, papers and coated boards
2D codes and variable product data
Late-stage customisation and localisation
From feasibility to a supported production system.
The precise work package is shaped around the application. These are the four areas we normally resolve.
Artwork and resolution review
Establish the evidence needed to select and size the technology.
Ink and substrate testing
Turn the proven application into a clear technical specification.
Printhead mounting and product guidance
Engineer safe, maintainable presentation and production control.
Data connection and verification planning
Connect, commission and prove the agreed operating sequence.

Identification should close the loop.
Where the process demands it, the system can check that the correct identity was created, confirm it is readable and associate the result with the production event.
- Presence and content checks
- Barcode, RFID or DPM read-back
- Reject, rework and exception handling
- Result and audit-record capture
Thermal inkjet printers: practical questions.
Every application is different, but these answers cover useful starting points.
How does thermal inkjet differ from continuous inkjet?+
TIJ typically provides higher-resolution print from a compact cartridge-based head, while CIJ is often selected for faster, harsher or more irregular applications with greater stand-off.
Can TIJ print scannable 2D codes?+
Yes, provided the substrate, ink, resolution, product control and code size produce enough contrast and edge definition for the required verification grade.
Is TIJ suitable for non-porous materials?+
It can be, using an appropriate solvent-capable ink and controlled presentation. Sample testing is recommended because coatings and surface contamination can change adhesion.
